Skeptical About God's Love

Israel's problem: They were “going through the motions” in their worship. God primarily demonstrates His love through material and physical blessings. God considers His spiritual blessings more valuable. “Love” and “hate” are used as terms of comparison. If God had not chosen Israel, God would have destroyed Israel. Focus on the blessings you have been given instead of complaining about those you don’t have.

Pastor Dennis begins a new series called The Cries of Easter. This first message, The Cries of Forgiveness, we will look at Luke 23 and Jesus in His final earthly hours. In His last hours, Jesus never once defended Himself against their accusations. Are you facing struggles or accusations yourself? Remember: God hasn’t given up on you!

The Joy of Sharing Our Faith

Make No Mistake - You have an enemy that wants to destroy you! Jesus’ power can deliver and transform those held in bondage. Sharing our faith should be the prioritized expression of our enjoyment of God. What’s needed is a genuine love for the lost in my heart.
Enjoying God's Principles

The Great Discovery: When I make God my greatest joy, I experience my own greatest joy. How? (1) By avoiding sin’s downward drag. Be continually alert to sin’s deceptive pull. (2) By delighting in the Bible’s upward lift. To enjoy God we have to know and enjoy God’s Word. To increase your appetite for God’s word remember your past experiences with Him.

Giving Thanks for God's Leading

God leads His people. Don’t be passive; be actively involved in the planning process. Flexibility isn’t a sign of weakness, but of humility. When you’re fully committed to the Lord, your desires will become His desires.

What if There Is No Resurrection?

If there’s no bodily resurrection, then the Christian has no past forgiveness; no present power; no future hope. Without the resurrection, Jesus is not the divine victor; He’s the human victim. The value of faith lies in the authenticity of its object. The only way that we know that God the Father accepted Jesus’ sacrifice in our place was by the resurrection. The truth is: Christ has been raised!

The Necessity of Love

The biblical definition of agape love is a determined act of the will which produces acts of self giving without thought of personal gain. Spiritual activity done without love accomplishes nothing for the person doing it. We can be biblically knowledgeable but badly behaved. There’s something inside us that likes the thought of being called “the great power of God.” You can give it all away and end up without anything to show for it. True spirituality starts with yielding control of your heart to the Holy Spirit.

Wisdom from the Spirit

The message of the cross is God’s ultimate wisdom. Following human wisdom will ultimately turn people against divine truth. The Holy Spirit opens our eyes, ears and heart to God’s wisdom of the cross. The Challenge: Stop acting like “non-spirit” people!

The problem in the church: The core issue - believers adopting the worldly values of their culture. Paul's purpose: To give practical answers to difficult questions about how to live under the Lordship of Jesus. He was delivering God’s answers not his own. Godly living demands following godly directives.

The Keys to Contentment

Contentment refers to an inner sense of satisfaction that is independent of circumstances. Contentment is learned as we trust in God’s sovereign care. Lack is not always a sign of God’s disfavor; nor plenty of His approval. The Focus: Christ-sufficiency not self-sufficiency. God works on the sowing and reaping principle.

Life’s Greatest Asset

The greatest asset in life is knowing, loving and living like Jesus. He (Paul) flushed his trust in human accomplishments. Paul lost faith in his self righteousness when he found faith in Christ’s righteousness. The Christian life isn’t one of perfection, but one of progress. Adopting the wrong principles will lead to a wrong lifestyle.
