Hi Church Family,

These are some pretty crazy times that we’re living in. I don’t know about you, but I sure do miss being together in person. It’s hard to believe that it was just one week ago that we had to suspend our in-person gatherings, a lot has happened since then.

Last night our California governor issued the “stay at home” order, so our church office is closed as our staff are working from home. In the midst of the chaos, there are a few things that I want you to be aware of, and then I want to share what’s on my heart with you.

Saturday at 5:30pm and Sunday at 8, 9:30, and 11am

Our team is working hard getting ready to have church online this weekend. We’ll host gatherings at our normal times of Saturday at 5:30pm and Sunday at 8, 9:30, and 11am. We’re encouraging people to “go to” the same service they normally attend if possible. Within our services platform there is an opportunity to interact with other attenders and to request prayer from the hosts. We’re excited about the ability to still gather together — it’ll be different, but we’re trying to embrace it as much as we can.

You can find our services at efcc.online.church. If you would rather just watch the sermon (instead of “going” to the service), it will be available on our web site, EFCC’s YouTube channel, and our Vimeo page by this Saturday afternoon.

Our staff has prepared ways to mobilize people to serve those in our church community who are in need. While this isn’t a situation any of us would choose, we believe that God is preparing his church to bring good news and great love to Escondido and beyond. If you’re interested in volunteering sign up here.

As I’m sure you are doing in your household, we are making hard decisions about finances. We have put all projects on hold that haven’t been paid for or started. In addition, we are in the process of making reductions to our staffing to be more in alignment with our available resources. As you can imagine, these are all difficult decisions because we have a wonderful staff who love Jesus and his church. Please pray for our team as we are trying to adjust to our new and ever-changing reality.

During these challenging times, I want to invite you to continue to give generously as together we trust God to meet all of our needs. There are three ways you can give to EFCC at this time: (1) via check made out to EFCC and mail to the church office; (2) via our Emmanuel Faith CC app; or (3) click the button below to give online. If you’ve never given online, now is a great time to try it.

I’m sure there will be more to communicate as it seems like the updates and changes to our situation come with consistency. We will continue to do our best to respond quickly and appropriately. We will be utilizing this email list to get mass information out, so if there are people from our church body who aren’t getting information from us, please invite them to sign up for our e-newsletter here. You can also stay in touch with us through through social media.

A few closing thoughts …

I’m convinced that God is up to something big in the midst of the chaos and disorientation. I’m reminded that the church isn’t a building, it’s a group of people who carry the name of Jesus on mission together. WE ARE THE CHURCH! I’m praying that you would sense Jesus’ presence with you and that you would boldly live out your faith. We were all here for such a time as this! I’m praying for you and look forward to “seeing you” this weekend.

Grace + Peace,

Pastor Ryan
