October 23 – Getting the Facts
Ashley Bever will share her experience as a parent in the San Diego Unified School District. She is a credentialed teacher as well as co-founder of Concerned Parents of San Diego and RespectCulture.org. Ashley has done extensive research on the new wave of sexuality education and informs other parents and community members on ways to engage.
Dean Broyles, Esq. is a constitutional attorney who serves as the President & Chief Counsel of the National Center for Law & Policy. He will discuss the current laws affecting public and charter schools regarding sexuality education and gender and review parents’ rights in education, particularly regarding these sensitive topics.
Dean was trained in constitutional litigation by Jay Sekulow of the American Center for Law & Justice and is an Alliance Defending Freedom affiliate attorney. He has handled many important legal cases and key projects involving public education over the past 24 years, including student free speech, religious student clubs, parental rights, teacher’s rights, and supporting concerned parents fighting the concerning sex ed programs in San Diego Unified School District and Oceanside. He also advises school districts and parents statewide regarding SB 48 and the History-Social Science Framework.
October 30 – Getting ahead of It All
What are the current policies in our local schools regarding sex ed? How can parents get more information and navigate this sensitive issue both in the schools and at home?
Nicole Jiles, EFCC’s Faith Kids Director, and Pastor Josh Rose will discuss steps and tools for communicating with your children’s teachers and school. They will outline how to talk with your kids about sex and gender from the biblical worldview and more.
