Jim had the pleasure of growing up in states all along the southern border of the United States, finally settling down in Escondido in 1998. He and his wonderful wife, Sundee, met where they attended church in Arizona and married in 1986.

They’ve been blessed with three terrific children — two sons and a daughter. He graduated from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, in 1982, with a BS in both Chemistry and Biology.  

Jim became part of the staff at EFCC in 2001 when he was hired to manage our remodeling projects as well as develop the safety and health programs. He moved to Facility Manager in 2004, Chief Operating Officer in 2010 and added the Chief Financial Officer duties in 2016. Prior to working at EFCC, Jim enjoyed working as a general contractor as well as 15 years as an Environmental Specialist/Manager in public and environmental health, and hazardous materials management. Jim recently moved into the role of Director of Campus and Facilities in April 2021.
