Parable of the Talents (Investing the Deposit: Matthew 25:14-30)
This week Pastor Ryan will complete our recent series in the the parables of Jesus, “Essential Stories.” Following is a guide that will help you and your family engage in this time of worship during, following and in the week to come. We’re glad you have joined us on the journey!
HOST: Welcome and Opening Prayer
As we conclude our time of worship, consider these questions.
REFLECT: Take a moment to think about what from the passage and message impacted you most.
SHARE: What verses or points made an impact on you today and why?
PRAY: Have one person pray a blessing over the group.
For families with young children, you can watch Pastor Ryan’s message to kids and find more Faith Kids resources here: Faith Kids.
Keep Growing …
In light of this weekend’s sermon, following are some ways that we can continue to grow in our relationship with Jesus both personally and in connection with others. (To join or lead a Life Group or to access leader’s notes visit here: Life Groups Online.)
Discuss: Life Group Questions
1. What is the coolest gift you ever received? Do you still use it? Why?
2. After re-reading the passage together, share with your group some observations about the servants and the master. In what ways are the servants the same? In what ways are they different? What do we learn about God from the master? What do you think about the fact that you are accountable to God for how you use your life? (1 Corinthians 3:12-15)
3. Near the end of the message Ryan provided three things we might do to apply this message. Which one seems to be the most significant for you right now? Why? What is something you will do to apply this text during the week?
Using the practice of Lectio Divina, meditate on Exodus 4:10-17.

As you prayerfully think about your “community,” consider how you can use one of your “talents” to be a blessing and an encouragement this week. What will you do and for whom will you do it?
To study: 1st Corinthians 3:10-15
