Making a case for the truth of Christianity.

Welcome to EFCC’s Apologetics Ministry

What Is “Apologetics”?

“There can’t be a good God with so much suffering and evil in the world.” “The Bible is full of contradictions.” “Christians are narrow-minded.” “The Bible has been changed over the years.” “No reasonable person could believe in miracles these days.”

Ever heard statements like those above? Do you feel confident you could defend Christianity against the many attacks it is facing today? EFCC’s Apologetics Ministry seeks to help believers fight the good fight of faith, and present them with effective arguments to defend their beliefs. The end result is to better equip Christians and provide them with far more confidence in the truth of Christianity.

Join Us for Our Next Class

Christians want to be confident in their beliefs. Can you defend the resurrection of Jesus, the reliability of the gospels, the existence of God, and the reality of true morality? During our class meetings, we often tackle issues such as Scripture reliability, science and Christianity, the existence of God, and the resurrection of Jesus.

Come join our EFCC Apologetics class this winter/spring session. We’ll meet weekly starting Thursday, February 1, at 7pm in Education Center, Room 24 (upstairs) at the church. In the next session, which runs to March 7, we’ll be going through a book entitled Confident Faith by Mark Mittelberg which does a good job of building a firm foundation for our beliefs. That title reflects the goal for all of our classes in the past — encouraging Christians to have confidence in what we believe.

Mark is a best-selling author endorsed by Lee Strobel, Max Lucado, and Luis Palau. We have enough copies of the book to give each family at least one copy (maybe more, depending on the size of the class), so there’s no need to buy the book.

Key Verses

There is one key verse which is the cornerstone for Christian apologetics. It’s found in 1 Peter 3:15: “But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

Many other verses challenge Christians to develop apologetics thinking: Colossians 2:8; Colossians 4:5-6; 2 Corinthians 10:5; 2 Corinthians 5:20; and Titus 2:8. Paul used logic to argue for the truthfulness of Christianity repeatedly in his travels: Acts 14:15-17; 17:2-31; 18:4; and 19:8-10.
