There’s something deeply comforting about where Jesus is in this verse—not above, not removed or watching from a distance, but in the midst of the lampstands, walking among His churches. He’s not a God who avoids the heat of our struggles. He steps into the middle of our mess. He is present, near, and involved—right in the tension, right in the ordinary, right where things are often overlooked, and in places we try to hide. He’s not just out front leading or behind us pushing—He’s beside us, right here. He sees what others miss. He knows what we carry. And He cares more than we can imagine.
As a member of His Church, you are one of His lampstands. And just as the priests in the Old Testament faithfully tended the golden lampstand in the temple—keeping its flame burning—Jesus now tends to us with that same intimate attention. He knows where our light flickers and where it shines bright. He strengthens the weak, restores the weary, and lovingly encourages us to keep shining in a world that desperately needs His light.
Maybe you feel like you’re in a “middle” place too and wishing you could see the light. You might be caught in the middle of a hard season, the middle of waiting, the middle of burnout, or even just lost in the middle of the crowd and feeling a little dim, a little tired, maybe even unseen. Take heart: Jesus is in the middle too. He hasn’t overlooked you. Wherever you are, He chooses to be right where you are, always.
