Escondido’s kids are full of potential. Can you help make a difference?

Education

Reading Mentors meet one child from Rose Elementary once a week for just 30 minutes — sharing stories, practicing words, and simply being present. For kids whose education has been disrupted by poverty or unstable housing, that kind of reliable relationship changes everything. Mentors are trained through San Diego Oasis and must be 50+. The next training is at the end of the summer.

Monday Night Homework Club is a weekly gathering where students get homework help, a hot meal, and something even harder to find — a place they truly belong. Caring volunteers show up each week to sit alongside kids, build real relationships, and help families stay on track. You don’t have to be an expert. You just have to show up.

Teacher Support: with 52 schools within Escondido city limits alone, there are many teachers who could use encouragement, community, and practical support. Whether you’re a new educator looking for a mentor or a veteran teacher wanting to connect with others who get it, we’re exploring what this could look like.
